The Basque culture on video

Jan 22, 2006

In collaboration with the association Aldudarrak Bideo a video library bringing together various documentaries on the Basque culture has been created on our portal website. One of the first documentaries is an interview with the singer Niko Etxart.

The Basque culture on video

The association Aldudarrak Bideo has for several years now been compiling a remarkable audiovisual collection on the socio-economic and cultural life and memory of the Northern Basque Country.

The Basque Cultural Institute currently enables selected video sequences to be consulted on the Basque culture portal website.

By way of an inauguration, three extracts are available for consultation: the contemporary art exhibition organised during summer 2005 by the cultural centre Haize Berri, an interview with the singer Niko Etxart and also a documentary on the transmission of the gaita.

This video library currently being created will initially only be available via "the portal website’s section on Basque culture": http://www.eke.org/kultura. Subsequently, the creation of video libraries is planned for the Heritage and Basque Country sections.

These videos can be watched with a broadband connection (min. 512 kbps) using either Flash Player 7 or Windows Media Player. However, for those who do not have a broadband connection, a low-speed version is available for Windows Media Player format.
