Jean-Marie Gezala (1966, Paris) is director of Paris’ Jemmapes cultural centre, and also chorusmaster for the vocal ensemble Anaiki. Son of the renowned txistu player, Polentzi Gezala, he has fulfilled himself in Basque culture. Although the idea of turning professional torments him, this demanding amateur reveals here the specific world of choirs, examining the main issues, from quality to the search for identity.
