Eric Dicharry (1969 – Bayonne, Labourd) lives a full life: both as a researcher and an artist, he moves seamlessly from one to the other. He began to study and experience the mascarade in Soule in 1995. He ended up with an atypical thesis which was recently published by L’Harmattan under the heading “Du rite au rire” (From rite to laughter). Here he evokes the singularity and universality of mascarades, and also explains why they are not about to disappear.
