Juan Carlos Bercetche
"Hi, how are you doing?
My name’s Juan Carlos Bercetche.
I live in Salto, in the province of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. My town was founded around 1780 with a fortress to defend itself against the Indians.
80 years later, around 1850, the first Bercetche arrived here. Antoine Bercetche settled here, originally from Saint-Etienne-de-Baigorry. He was a shepherd and had several sons. Today the fifth generation of Bercetches lives in Salto.
Salto currently has about 40 000 inhabitants in an area of the country where corn and soya are grown, and food products are produced on an industrial scale.
I’d like to say hello to all the Basques in the Northern Basque Country and tell them that one day I’ll be over there to see where my ancestors came from before they settled here in Salto, in Argentina.’"
