The Chateau Lota
The Chateau Lota was built by Mr. Bernard (also known as Baptiste) Duhart and his wife Mrs. Dominique-Rosalie Ainciondo between 1874 and 1879. A native of Ustaritz, Bernard Duhart made a fortune in Chile, in the Port of Lota. In partnership with his two brothers Pierre and Charles, he set up a company specialized in the export of foodstuffs and spirits, the Compañia de los Hermanos Duhart.
The profits Duhart made at Casa Duharte Hermanos provided the necessary income for the construction of this magnificent Neo-Renaissance mansion in his hometown.
In 2013, the Chateau Lota was listed as a historical monument.
